An incredible update for Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows. Starting at the end of August 2024, you’ll be able to join meetings on platforms like Google Meet, Zoom, Cisco Webex, Amazon Chime, RingCentral, and many more. 🎉

What does this mean for you?

Before this update:

  • Teams Rooms did not support third-party SIP conferencing services to join meetings.
  • Teams Rooms only supported dialing to SIP endpoints.

After the update:

  • You will be able to join meetings on various conferencing platforms that support SIP.
  • Video quality will be up to 1080p 📹.
  • Support for dual screens 🖥️🖥️.
  • Different meeting layouts 🗂️.
  • HDMI ingest 📺.

When will this happen?

  • General Availability (Worldwide, GCC): Rollout will begin at the end of August 2024 and is expected to be completed by the end of September 2024.
  • General Availability (GCC High): Rollout will begin at the end of September 2024 and is expected to be completed by mid-October 2024.

This update will allow Teams Rooms to seamlessly integrate with other conferencing platforms, enhancing your meeting experience. 🌐

What do you need to do to prepare?

  • If you do not wish to use this feature: No action is needed. This update will not affect you.
  • To enable SIP dialing from Teams Rooms on Windows:
    • Ensure the Teams Room is assigned a Pro license.
    • Ensure the Teams Room has a license from a CVI provider.
